When you use the contact form
The form on our contact page sends us an email containing your name, your email address and your message. It is delivered to our own mailbox at info@time-linecontinuum.com through a mail service called Resend, which handles the sending on our behalf.
Nothing from that form is stored on this website. There is no database of messages here. The email in our mailbox is the only copy, and we keep it for as long as we would keep any correspondence, so that we can answer you and find the conversation again later.
We use your email address to reply to you. We do not add it to a mailing list and we do not pass it to anyone else.
Two things the contact form does to stop robots
The form carries a hidden field that a person never sees and never fills in. If it arrives filled in, the message is discarded.
We also limit how many messages can be sent from one internet address in a short period. Doing that means the server briefly reads the address your request came from and remembers it for about a minute. It is never written to a database and never linked to your message.
If you have an account
When you create an account we hold the email address you gave, and a record of which level of access the account has. We send one email to that address so you can confirm it is yours, and after that we only write to it when you ask us to, for example for a sign-in link. Your password is handled by Supabase, our database provider, and is stored only as an irreversible hash. Nobody here can read it.
When you sign in, your browser is given cookies that keep you signed in between pages. They are used for nothing else. There is no advertising on this site and no third-party tracking of any kind.
What your account can read is enforced by the database itself rather than by the pages, so an account that is not active cannot reach the archive even if it reaches the address.
The robot check on the sign-in and account forms
The forms for signing in, asking for a sign-in link and creating an account include a check from Cloudflare, called Turnstile, which tells people and automated programs apart. Most of the time it finishes on its own without you doing anything. It exists because forms like these are a favourite target for programs that send unwanted email.
To do that, Cloudflare receives information from your browser while the check runs, such as your internet address and details about your browser. Cloudflare states that it uses this only to run the check, and not for advertising. The contact form does not use this check.
Your searches are not recorded
When you search the archive, the words you type are used to run the search and are then gone. We do not keep a history of what anyone has searched for.
The news itself
The archive is assembled from the public news feeds that newspapers publish. We store the headline, the summary, the time the paper published it, and a link back to the paper. Every story links to the publisher, and the reporting remains theirs.
Asking us what we hold, or to delete it
Write to info@time-linecontinuum.com and we will tell you what we hold about you, correct it, or delete it and close your account. We will not ask you why.
Changes to this page
If we change how any of this works, we change this page in the same breath rather than afterwards. The date at the top is the date it last changed.
